It just needs to be 25 years right? If so we can import the Renault 5 Turbo.

There is something wrong with that car, it is way too cheap for running, no rust one. The engine was rebuilt and this is another issue. Also it is from Bulgaria(the country which I live in and it is on the Balkan penincular) and as my nickname suggests we must not be trusted.

List of interesting AFFORDABLE cars that are different or not sold in the US:
List is going to be 80s cars only and only cars where you could get parts for them mostly locally or easily overseas from countries that speak english. I'll post all cars of 1989 model years despite most not being legal yet ie. Familia GTR and R32 Skyline
S12 with FJ20ET, S13, all skylines earlier than R32 (r32 is not legal yet despite what Jalopnik says, manufacture dates START in May that GTR guy had illegal documentation), 200ZR (Z31 with RB20DET + Intercooler), 4G63T Starion (easier to tune, more reliable), SA22 turbo RX-7, Mazda Cosmo, Lancia Delta 8v and 16v Integrale (both are good and cheap, get parts from the UK and don't have it as a daily driver), Ford Sierra Cosworth (AWD not until 1990), Mazda Familia GTX/GTR (get the GTR), Toyota Soarer Z20 (MK3 Supra twin), AE86, Mitsubishi Lancer (rwd car) 1800 (4G62T) and 2000 (4G63T) turbo, Toyota Celica (rwd car) TA63 (3TGTE turbo) or RA63 (DOHC 2000cc), March Superturbo, CRX SiR, Volvo 240 Turbo coupe with 5 speed and intercooler, Mitsubishi Eterna GSR (may have made a MR) i'll have to think of more... too many options from just the 80s alone and i could find more.
You can get cars of significantly lighter trim levels we didn't get. Like the MK3 supra but without the t tops and all of that weight adding nonsense. Same with the Z31.
The problem is you have to find one of these cars for sale. Get a list of the cars you want (have more than one) and pick whatever one you can find the best condition of.

This isn't some new law, is it? So why is everyone acting like it is, just lately? You lot can import anything pre-88, which includes all the Citroens, Renaults, Peugeots, Fiats, and so-on that you never get, and all of them are cheap.

It's just making the news a lot lately because people have been trying to gray-market import skylines for a while now and the first legal ones, R32 that is, are coming over. A lot of the ones people tried to bring over earlier got crushed. Personally I would bring over tons of Alfas and Lancias because even if we did get them over here there are not a lot of them running around still and anything that even begins to resemble clean costs a ton.

We are hard up for Italian cars in America. I am happy to accept Eurotrash.

Yeah, that's what I meant. There're loads of interesting cars in Europe and Japan that have been eligible for years. I get that the Skyline's the latest notable to become eligible, but really loads of cars become eligible every year.

Really? I thought they only got the RWD Peugeots, and the 405 briefly.

I'm saying this because I saw some site (I think it even might have been Jalopnik) publishing an article about a US-based Peugeot collector who owned a GTI. Although then again it came out in 1984 so it'd be legal by 2009.

Well, never mind on ever building an American Muscle car. If I want that 60's look, I guess I can stick to my Nissan heritage and grab a C130 or that Kenmeri. That C210 is pretty sweet too.

Yes you can! I love Japanese muscle...
Those Laurels are actually quite rare though...and for some reason they all seem to be purple. With flakes...I've looked at so many pictures of purple ones I don't think I could ever own one in any other color.

And holy god those Kenmeris are expensive as hell! Quick google showed me two, one in Cali for like $24K and one in UK for 33K GBP

I just googled Kenmeri Skyline for sale. Don't even know if the listing was still active tbh. I just wanted to get a vague sense of about what they went for. North of $20K is too rich for my blood

Well I can go and buy a 22B, R34, AZ-1, Cosmo, or literally any other foreign vehicle that will pass a basic warrant of fitness test, and have it in the country, registered and driveable within a month or two.

In a few more years, an earlier EVO. They started in 1992 and the U.S. didn't get one until 2003.
It will be 2020 before we see this EVO III legally on the streets. In other words, kids who were born the year Minority Report came out could drive one to the polls and vote for Hillary Clinton's second term.
